Getting hurt at work shouldn't mean fighting for every dollar while you're trying to heal. But that's exactly what happens to too many workers in Colorado. Insurance adjusters are trained to minimize claims, delay benefits, and make you feel like you're asking for too much.
I know what adjusters do and what they won't tell you. If you have been injured on the job, you have rights — and I will fight to make sure the insurance company respects them.

Workers' compensation is a no-fault insurance system that provides medical care and wage replacement if you are injured on the job. In Colorado, virtually every employer is required to carry it — even for part-time, seasonal, or family employees. If you receive a paycheck, you are almost certainly covered.
Report the injury to your employer in writing within four working days. Get medical attention. Document everything — the date, time, location, what happened, and any witnesses. Do not sign any documents from the insurance company without legal guidance.
A Notice of Contest means your employer or insurer is disputing your claim. You have the right to request a hearing before an administrative law judge through the Office of Administrative Courts. An attorney can help you build a strong evidentiary case and present it effectively.
Retaliation against workers who file legitimate claims is illegal in Colorado. If you are terminated or demoted after filing, that may give rise to a separate retaliation claim. Document any adverse employment actions that follow your injury report.
Absolutely not. Under both federal and Colorado law, all workers — regardless of immigration status, including undocumented workers — have the right to workers' compensation benefits after a workplace injury. Your employer cannot use your immigration status to deny your claim or retaliate against you for filing.
